A domain was chosen, a small site built. The personal blog I had been turning over in my mind for months finally opened today.
The site is called “The Writing Road: Easy to Know, Hard to Walk” — writing is easy to talk about and hard to do, and the only way to get anywhere is to keep putting down one word after another. I am not aiming at anything grand. I only want a small plot of ground where the scraps of ordinary days — what I read, the roads I walk, the idle turns of mind — can be gathered up. Over the years it may amount to something, and the time will not have gone entirely to waste.

Why Write at All
People say a good memory is no match for a worn-out pen. Books we have read fade; roads we have walked blur. Only what gets written down stays — black on white, keeping your thoughts for you as they were at the time. Even clumsy sentences are honest about the moment that produced them.
Writing is a matter for the ages; only the heart knows what was gained or lost.
From here on, this patch is my own small acre. If you pass by, look around as you please; and if a line or two catches your eye, that is a small piece of luck shared between us.
